Remembering New College in your Will

Legacies have played, and continue to play, a major part in the history of New College. As a charitable institution, bequests to the College are free of Inheritance Tax. Including a legacy in your Will, or adding a Codicil, is a simple matter, although we do strongly advise that you take professional legal advice.

What form of legacy is right for you?

Legacy pledge form

If you choose to remember the College in your Will, do please let us know so that we can ensure that all aspects of your plans are fully understood and so that we can thank you appropriately. This will not represent a binding commitment, and your plans will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Legacy gifts to New College are exempt from Inheritance Tax in the UK. In addition, if you leave charitable gifts in your Will that amount to 10% or more of your chargeable net estate, the inheritance tax rate on the your estate may be reduced from 40% to 36%. We recommend speaking to your financial adviser who will be able to discuss your personal situation.

For Old Members in the United States, New College is part of a consortium with a number of Oxford colleges to facilitate methods of Planned Gifts. Specialists in Planned Giving services will provide advice on ways to support New College while taking advantage of favourable federal and state tax laws.

The Wykeham Society

The Wykeham Society exists to thank everyone we know of who has helped us or who intends to help us in their estate plans, to give us a way of keeping in touch with you, and a way of keeping you in touch with us. We hold an annual Wykeham Society celebration – whether lunch, a concert, or a dinner – to thank you and to share with you our plans for the College's future, and to hear your feedback.
