New College warmly welcomes undergraduate visiting students through a number of recognised programmes.  New College is one of the largest, most famous, and architecturally striking colleges. It is in a central, but peaceful location, close to libraries, sports facilities, and everything else that Oxford has to offer. With a warm and friendly student population of over 700, our visiting students become members of a thriving and diverse academic community. The college offers its visiting students a stimulating academic programme, along with a welcoming social environment.

For more information regarding our visiting student programmes please contact the admissions office on student.services@new.ox.ac.uk

We do not accept visiting student applications directly to the College. If you are interested in applying to become a visiting student, you must apply through one of our existing university partnerships or the Oxford Study Abroad Programme (see below).

Existing partnerships

New College is proud of its special relationships with three international universities:

  • University of Notre Dame
  • Amherst College
  • Tsinghua University

Students from these universities will need to first apply through their study abroad office, who will assess your application before sending it to be considered by New College tutors. In the past we have accepted students from a wide variety of subjects from Mathematics to Classics. You can find a full list of subjects offered by New College tutors here.

Students on these programmes are provided with accommodation on the main New College site, and meals are provided in the main college dining hall. Students can only apply for the full academic year. Single terms are not permitted.

Please find term dates here.

Oxford Study Abroad Programme

New College has a long history of working with the Oxford Study Abroad Programme (OSAP), welcoming students from around the world to study for one, two, or three terms. Students are normally accepted to study a wide variety of programmes, but please check with the OSAP team first whether we will accept your preferred subject.

Applications should be submitted to the OSAP office who will then send on successful applicants to be considered by New College tutors.

New College does not provide accommodation for OSAP students, but you will become a full member of our Junior Common Room (JCR).

For more information on the application process, please see the OSAP website.
