There are many links between computer science and philosophy: Logic is an obvious area where both subjects overlap. Logicians such as Kurt Gödel and Alan Turing are the founders of computer science. The theory of computability developed by these logicians has had a deep impact on philosophy. New College has a strength in logic and tutors are committed to the course.

One of the Philosophy tutors, Professor Volker Halbach works in logic takes a special interest in the course. He has worked on the Gödel incompleteness theorems and aspects of the theory of computability.
