TONUS PEREGRINUS
Opening the Eton Choirbook - an Open Rehearsal

Having recorded a series of albums of “Milestones of Western Music”, TONUS PEREGRINUS is now engaged in exploring some of the same repertoire from its original notation, thanks largely to the pioneering work of the Digital Image Archive of Medieval Music at Oxford University.  This exploration reveals new insights into the harmonic thinking and performance practices of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Join the ensemble, led by William Byrd Fellow, Antony Pitts, for a rehearsal around a life-size facsimile of pages from the Eton Choirbook in New College’s Ante-Chapel, and get behind the scenes as the singers dare to step into the shoes of their musical forebears – John Browne, Walter Lambe, Richard Davy, William Monk of Stratford, and Robert Wylkynson.
