Warden's Progress fulfilled in 2026

The tradition of the Warden’s Progress was fulfilled for this year by the Warden, the sub-Warden, Outrider, Bursar, the Land Agent and Home Bursar. Two of our farms were visited. The first, Putlowes Farm, is suffering badly from HS2: the railway track cuts the farm literally in half, and comes to within a few hundred yards of our farmhouse. This makes it extremely difficult to operate as a farm, particularly moving live stock from one half to another half. The photograph shows a bridge, long in the making, and much over specified, which will eventually allow the cattle to move between the two parts, with the Land Agent in front. The party felt enormous sympathy for our extremely patient and professional tenant, Peter and Patricia White. The photograph shows the progress party together with Mr and Mrs White in front of the farm house.

The second farm we visited was Weedon Hill Farm where we met Bob Gregory and his son, Paul. The land is close to new development on the outskirts of Aylesbury, some of which will be College sponsored. In addition to the traditional business, their highly successful “Farmer Paul’s Pumpkins” has drawn crowds from far and wide during the pumpkin season.
