Prof. Shivaji Sondhi elected to the National Academy of Sciences
Wykeham Professor of Physics, Shivaji Sondhi, has been recently elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Announced each spring, membership in the NAS represents a unique honour in recognition of original research.
Sondhi is among 25 international members and 120 members who have, this year, been acknowledged for their distinguished and continuing achievements in research.

Professor Shivaji Sondhi FRS is Wykeham Professor of Theoretical Physics, Tencent Professor of Physics and Leverhulme Professor, Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics.
His research as a theoretical condensed matter physicist has focused on the quantum Hall effect (including the discovery of skyrmions), on quantum magnetism (sharing the Europhysics Prize for the discovery of magnetic monopoles), on the discovery of time crystals, and on quantum many body physics and statistical mechanics more broadly.
