Outreach Team attends the Urdd Eisteddfod to view sponsored competitions
Last Friday, the Outreach Team attended the Urdd Eisteddfod at Margam Park near Port Talbot. The Urdd Eisteddfod is an annual Welsh youth festival celebrating all aspects of culture, including literature, music, and performing arts. Each year, the Urdd Eisteddfod attracts over 75,000 competitors and over 100,000 visitors.
In a new initiative, this year, New College sponsored two of the competitions held as part of the Eisteddfod: the Côr Cerdd Dan Bl.13 ac iau (Cerdd Dant Choir - Year 13 and under) and Deuawd Offerynnol Bl.13 ac iau (Instrumental Duet - Year 13 and under). The standard of musicianship was impressively competitive. After a performance by the top seven schools, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf took the trophy for both competitions.
The team look forward to visiting Anglesey (Ynys Môn) next year, where New College will continue to sponsor these two competitions.
