All the World's a Stage: Pursuing Iconography of the ballet d'action by Any Other Means

Are we too picky in the visual evidence we use to reconsider, let alone to reconstruct, the ballet d’action? This paper seeks to examine and to extend a range of visual material that we ought to consider when we attempt to understand the nature and the practice of the ballet d’action during the period 1760-1860. Is there more material out there? - Were we simply looking in the wrong places?
