Prof Stephan Uphoff receives Lister Research Prize

Congratulations to Professor Stephan Uphoff, who received his Lister Research Prize Fellowship last week.

Stephan was awarded the prize in 2020 but had been unable to give his Prize Winner's lecture, or receive his physical prize due to the pandemic.

On 23rd March 2022, he delivered his research lecture at the Department of Biochemistry, before being presented with his prize by Prof Sir Alex Markham, Chair of the Lister Institute of Preventative Medicine. The Director of the Lister Institute, Dr Sally Burtles, was also in attendance.

The Lister Institute was founded in 1891 and is one of the UK’s oldest medical charities. Today, from its endowment funds, it is a grant-giving charity whose principal award is the Lister Research Prize Fellowship. The £250k prize gives young scientists the opportunity to develop their potential through flexible funding over a five-year period.
