New College hosts Michael I. Ohajuru for annual Black History Month Lecture
New College was delighted to welcome Michael I. Ohajuru for its annual Black History Month lecture. Michael's lecture was entitled 'The Black Presence in Western European Art: From Subjects of Capital to Makers of Culture'. By traversing a wide range of artists and artworks, Michael reflected on the legacy of black representation in European art and its importance for promoting diversity within art today.
Michael is a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, distinguished public historian, co-convener of the series 'What's Happening in Black British History' and will shortly be publishing the 'Guide to Black London'.
