New Chamber Opera: Feminine Shrewdness

New Chamber Opera was co-founded by Professor Michael Burden in 1990.  Since then, he has directed twenty operas and this Summer's, 'Le astuzie femminili' or 'Feminine Shrewdness', is his latest production.

Feminine Shrewdness is the perfect opera for the summer.  Performed in English, it tells the tale of the orphan, Bellina, and the difficult relationship she has with her guardian, the fraudulent lawyer, Don Romualdo.  Given a large dowry, but only if she should marry that crude Don Giampaolo Lasagna, all of the action flows from the the attempts to rescue Bellina from her cruel fate.

The opera will be performed in the beautiful surroundings of the Warden's Garden in New College, with picnics and drinks taking place in the College's Cloisters.

Tickets are available for the public for tonight's performance (5th July) on Ticket Source.  The timings can be found below, and more information is available on the New Chamber Opera's website.
