Law Society Event
Written by Megan Mounty, New College Law Society President
On Saturday, the New College Law Society put on an event welcoming Old Members back to spend an evening with current students.
The event started with a Prize Moot with Igor Keblowski and Jess Battersby mooting against Lucy O’Connell and Sriganesh Murugan. All four did a great job of putting on an engaging and exciting moot, with the guest judges Her Honour Wendy Joseph KC, Sir Gregory Trevorton and Sir William Norris KC deciding to allow the appeal of squashing the judgment of murder.
This was then followed by drinks and a dinner put on by College. With delicious food, it was lovely to have the opportunity for Old Members to reconnect with old friends and students to question them on their career paths since leaving College. The event was concluded with an excellent speech by Her Honour Wendy Joseph KC, speaking of her time at the Old Bailey, her path to getting there, and her book Unlawful Killings.
It was a lovely evening for lawyers past and present to reconnect.
