Joshua Bennett speaks at History Society Lecture

New College history students enjoyed the annual History Society Lecture. This year, the college welcomed Dr Joshua Bennett, to speak. The event was well enjoyed and attended.

The History Society Lecture brings together current studying, tutors and Old Members to celebrate the exceptional research taking place at New College and across the wider University. The lecture is followed by a Formal Dinner in the Founder's Library.

Joshua Bennett is a Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall. His work focuses on modern European intellectual history, especially in Britain and Germany. He is particularly interested in the role which religious thought and scepticism have played in understandings of history and social science, and in liberal conceptions of ‘progress’, since approximately 1800.
