Celebrating 50 Years of The Selfish Gene, hosted by Ashleigh Griffin

Professor Ashleigh Griffin is delighted to be hosting a special evening with Richard Dawkins tonight at the new Life and Mind Building. This celebratory event marks the 50th anniversary of Dawkins' landmark work The Selfish Gene, which has become one of the most influential works of popular science ever published. 

Bringing together leading figures in evolutionary biology, the event will stimulate discussion and reflection on the impact, origins and enduring legacy of Dawkins' book. 

The evening will begin with a lecture by Alan Grafen FRS, Professor of Theoretical Biology. This will be followed by an on-stage interview with Professor Richard Dawkins, conducted by Professor Marian Dawkins, exploring the ideas behind The Selfish Gene and its influence over the past five decades. The audience will then have the opportunity to put their own questions to Richard during a live Q &A session. Following the formal programme, guests are invited to continue the conversation over drinks at a reception.
