The New College Society Health Sector Network
"Bench-to-Bedside: A Discussion on Translational Medicine"
The New College Society Health Sector Network warmly invites New College Old Members, and a guest, to a panel discussion and drinks reception on Monday 24 November 2025, 6.15pm–8.45pm, in The Burroughs Room, Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE (Map).
Following the successful launch of the New College Health Sector Network in October 2024, we are delighted to host our second London event “Bench-to-Bedside: A Discussion on Translational Medicine.”
Join us for an evening exploring how scientific discovery becomes practical medicine — and what drives innovation at the interface between academia, industry and investment.
Our distinguished Old Member panel brings together complementary perspectives from across the translational pathway:
• Professor Antony Galione, Extraordinary Lecturer in Biochemical Pharmacology; Professor of Pharmacology Medicine at New College – Academic and translational science perspective.
• Tim Funnell (2007), Partner, Monograph Capital – Venture capital and biotech investment perspective.
• Scott Bentley (2007) – Pharmaceutical and commercial development perspective.
The discussion will examine how breakthroughs move from the laboratory to clinical practice, the challenges of funding and scaling innovation, and the future landscape for translational medicine in the UK and beyond.
We hope you can join us for a thought-provoking evening — and an excellent opportunity to reconnect with fellow New College Old Members working across health, science, and technology.
