New College Haldane Society Dinner

We are pleased to invite you to the Haldane Society Dinner at New College on Saturday 9 May 2020. The evening will begin with a drinks reception at 6.30pm in the Founder's Library, followed by dinner (3-courses, wine included with the meal) which will be served at 7.15pm.

The dress code is black tie.

The cost of the dinner is £60.00 per person. If you would like to book your place, please could you use our online booking facility here. Alternatively, you can call the New College Development Office directly on 01865 279509, where we can take payment via a debit/credit card.

We have limited parking on the day but if you have a mobility problem please tell us and we will find you a space in college.

The Society, named after the celebrated geneticist and physiologist alumnus of New College - JBS Haldane, is the in-house society for medical and biomedical students, both past and present. It aims to create a strong community amongst undergraduates, clinical students and fellows by organising social events, such as this annual black-tie dinner and talks from invited speakers throughout the year.

Whilst the annual dinner represents the main opportunity for former Old Members medics to return to college, one of the aims of the Society is to increase its engagement between Old Members and current students. You might for example, be interested in attending the annual Careers Forum, which takes place this year on Saturday 7 November 2020. If you are interested in attending, or would simply like to be added to the Careers Network mailing list to receive invitations and news about future events, please contact us on oldmembers@new.ox.ac.uk

If your schedule permits, why not attend this year's free medics lecture which takes place on Wednesday 4 March 2020 at New College and will be delivered by celebrated neurosurgeon and writer, Dr Henry Marsh, CBE FRCS. More details about this event and how to book your place can be viewed on the Old Members and friends area of the New College website here.

We hope that you might consider supporting the Haldane Society with a regular contribution. The financial needs are not great, but such support will:

- Help with elective funding

- Cover travel costs and drinks associated with invited speakers

- Subsidise the costs of dinner for students who might otherwise not be able to attend

- Help with conference associated costs

Should you wish to support the Haldane Society, you can download a donation form here.

With best wishes
