New College scholars and exhibitioners formally receive their awards

Every Michaelmas Term, on the Wednesday of 6th Week, New College holds the scholars and exhibitioners dinner.

At New College, scholars and exhibitioners are chosen from their Prelims, Honour Mods, or second and third year exam results. The students with the best results become scholars, receiving a scholarship of £400 each year and, those who achieve the second-best results, become exhibitioners, receiving a scholarship of £275 each year. Students can keep their scholar or exhibitioner status for as long as they continue to do well.

On 15 November, New College's scholars and exhibitioners formally received their awards in chapel. Students signed their names in the the official register (which is hundreds of years old) before taking their seats in the pews for a special award ceremony.

Following the ceremony, students gathered in the Founders Library for celebratory drinks which preceded a formal dinner in New College Hall.

We congratulate all our new scholars and exhibitioners on their success!
