New College Notes—issue 18 now published

Issue 18 of New College, Oxford’s scholarly open-access e-journal New College Notes (ISSN 2517–6935) is now published.

 

This latest issue includes articles on: fascinating scribbles in the margins of a manuscript copy of John Walton’s Middle English translation of Boethius’s De consolatione philosophiae; the only known copy of the first edition of Luther’s Biblia Sacra; a biblical commentary in Latin by the Franciscan scholar Nicholas of Lyra; and an intriguing undated letter in New College’s recently acquired Keynes Collection.  Contributors include: Antje G. Frotscher, Cressida Ryan, Lesley Smith, and Ingrid Tieken-Boon van Ostade.

 

New College Notes is dedicated to research articles and learned notes on the history and life of New College, and especially the contents and history of the rich collections of New College Library & Archives, Oxford.  Potential contributors are invited to contact the Librarian.
