New CD from New College Choir - Parry, Songs of Farewell and other choral works

The choir's new CD celebrates the centenary of Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (1848-1918) who was a dominant force in English music before the First World War. Based on Robert Quinney's new OUP edition of the Songs of Farewell, this new recording pays tribute to Parry's debt to European musical influences, whilst demonstrating his capacity to write deeply emotional music. Paired with six motets by Mendelssohn, this will be a fresh and interesting new interpretation of what are considered Parry's greatest musical creations.
