Bach at New College: Luke Mitchell

Monday, 2 March 2026, 5.30pm
The New Space, Gradel Quadrangles, Mansfield Road

J.S. Bach's French Notebook: A great admirer of French music, we know J.S Bach possessed and played music by Nicolas de Grigny, François Couperin, Jean-Henri D’Anglebert and Louis Marchand. C.P.E. Bach also recounts the lost correspondence between his father and François Couperin. This recital by Luke Mitchell presents some of the repertoire Bach seemingly possessed, and what Couperin may have sent him.

Louis Marchand | Suite ré mineur
Jean Henri D’Anglebert | Tombeau de Monsieur de Chambonnieres
Johann Sebastian Bach | Excerpts from English Suite No. 3 in G minor BWV 808
