We are proud to work closely with schools, teachers and students from Northern Ireland, ensuring that the University of Oxford is a realistic option for students from the region.

We attend UCAS fairs and Student Conferences in the region, as well as hosting a Summer School exclusively for Northern Irish students.

Northern Ireland Residential Summer School

Each year, New College and St Catherine's run a Northern Irish Summer School.

Last year's Summer School

In June 2017, we welcomed 105 lower-sixth students and teachers from Northern Ireland to our two day Summer School - the largest Summer School ever held for Northern Irish students at Oxford.

Over the course of the two days, students participated in academic sessions, attended a series of talks relating to the admissions process, and met with current Northern Irish Undergraduates at the University. Aside from the academic focus, students also had time to get to know the city, go punting on the Thames, and socialise with each other during informal quizzes and leisure time.

For teachers, there were sessions from the University’s Admissions team, as well as from the Careers Service. In addition, we also led a session on reference writing, and gave an update on the admissions process.

We hope you consider coming to our 2018 Summer School – see the quotes below for recommendations!

"This was a fantastic trip which has really given my students confidence and enthusiasm to apply to the University."
"I loved that Northern Irish students were here to show us around and they were all so helpful and happy to chat to us."
