Winners of the Equality & Diversity Essay Competition 2020

The winners have been selected for New College's 2020 Equality & Diversity Essay Competition! 

Each year, the competition is open to Year 12 students from our Step Up partner schools, with a concurrent competition open to New College students. This year's topic was LGBTQ+. 

The Winners

The Step Up School Winner was Maria Copley, from Cardinal Newman Catholic School and Sixth Form College. 

The New College Student Winner was Oliver Smith. 

A runner-up was also selected in each category: Kaithlene Spiritu, from St Angela's Ursuline School, and Jack Underhill (current student). 

The winners each received a £300 first prize, with the runners-up each receiving £100.
