New College Notes—issue 17 now published

The Courtrai Chest, 14th-century Flemish school, New College, Oxford

Issue 17 of New College, Oxford’s scholarly open-access e-journal New College Notes (ISSN 2517–6935) is now published.

 

This latest issue includes articles on: ancient history and metropolitan life in New College’s Isaac Newton manuscripts; the afterlives of William Harvey, discoverer of the circulation of the blood, in New College Library; an extraordinary masterpiece of medieval Syriac writing, New College’s MS 333; and medieval art, politics, and New College’s Courtrai Chest.  Contributors include: Jack Avery, Ludmilla Jordanova, Piotr Jutkiewicz, and Joseph W. Mason.

 

New College Notes is dedicated to learned notes and to scholarly articles on college history and the rich collections of New College Library & Archives, Oxford.  Potential contributors are invited to contact the Librarian.
