The History of the website

With the launch of the new website we have taken some snapshots of the website design over the last 20 years to see how it has changed.

We are very proud of our new website and hope you enjoy looking around, seeing the array of wonderful things that go on with all our members.

Please feel free to feedback comments to communications@new.ox.ac.uk or if you spot an error please report it to webmaster@new.ox.ac.uk.

2018

The Communications working party and all our web editors embarked on the new website back in September 2017. Built by Olamalu and designed by Cooney Bains, we are now very proud to unveil it. It embraces our reworked, modern roundel and branding colours which compliment our traditional College Brown.

Safe to say that it's our most attractive site to date!

2014

The website of 2014 was designed and built in-house by the IT team and included a wide image banner which started to appear on most websites at that time. The College involved some students and staff in a photography shoot depicting a "day in the life" at New College, which gave a real insight into not only our student life but also the buildings and staff you might see when walking around College.

2009

The website had a major overhaul in 2009 with a professional design and rework of much of the content. It was built using Drupal by Stephen McGlynn who was an ex-student.

2007

Moving away from the University Blue into a lighter shade of lilac! At this stage, the site seems very small compared to the big, bold, interactive websites of today.

2004

A much bigger site in Oxford Blue. It provided much more information about College online. This site was built by external company Theme Group, who provided a content management system which we used for many years.

1999

Our black, red and white website matched the colours of the College Crest. It introduced a few images showing off some of New College's finest buildings but not really a lot else! Really, it was simply a few pages providing contact information but it was much more formatted than its predecessor.

1997

Our first website page was very simple, with basic page construction, hyperlinks and a rather grey background. The College's first step into its World Wide Web presence!
