Dr. Regan-Komito received his Bachelors degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology (B.A. Mod, 1st class honours) from Trinity College Dublin in 2011.  He then moved to the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology (University of Oxford) to pursue his D.Phil in the field of immunology and chronic inflammatory disease, specifically investigating novel anti-inflammatory and pro-resolution mediators in the context of atherosclerosis. During this time Dr. Regan-Komito worked in the laboratory of Professor David R. Greaves and was funded by a 4 year PhD studentship awarded by the British Heart Foundation (2011-2015). He was also actively involved in undergraduate teaching of medical students, including practical classes, small group seminars as well as direct supervision of FHS laboratory projects.

Following his D.Phil, Dr. Regan-Komito joined the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (University of Oxford) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working with Dr. Thibault Griseri and Professor Fiona Powrie (2016-present).


Dr. Regan-Komito conducts tutorials in pathology for College Medical students. He also contributes to graduate student training and supervision at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.


Dr. Regan-Komito’s research interests align with the fields of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disease. His research currently focuses on the mechanisms by which dysregulation of haematopoietic stem cells and myeloid cell progenitors drive disease during inflammatory arthritis. In addition, he is investigating the role played by the microbiota in the regulation of myelopoiesis during arthritis. He employs a range of pre-clinical in vivo and ex vivo disease models and methodologies to interrogate novel disease mechanisms that drive the inflammatory disease, ankylosing spondylitis.
