Biological Sciences

New College has a distinguished history in Biology. Julian Huxley, J.B.S. Haldane and W.D. Hamilton were Fellows in their time, and one of the leading figures in contemporary Evolutionary Biology, Richard Dawkins, is an Emeritus Fellow of the College. New College usually accepts four candidates a year to read the three-year course in Biological Sciences. The course should be particularly attractive to those with a wide ranging interest in biology. We look for a strong science background at A-level, and for engagement, curiosity and analytical thought at interview.
