William of Wykeham returns to College
The College is delighted to welcome a new statue of our Founder, William of Wykeham, generously funded by David (1956) and Anne Mann, and carved by Antonia Hockton (www.antoniahockton.co.uk).
Visitors to College in recent months may have noticed the void in the alcove above the Front Quad gatehouse. Following a routine inspection, the original statue of William of Wykeham was found to be, quite literally, about to lose its head, and further examination brought to light other damage that made repairing it almost impossible.
The new commission arrived in College on Friday 10th August and was welcomed by Fellows and staff. It is due to be lifted into place on Thursday 16th August
