The Anthony Quinton Tutorial Fellowship and Stipendiary Lectureship in Classical Philosophy

Salary: New College: £20,497―£23,072 p.a.; St Hugh’s: on a scale starting at £8,123.

 

New College proposes to appoint a Tutorial Fellow (The Anthony Quinton Tutorial Fellowship), and St Hugh’s College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Classical Philosophy. This full-time college-only joint post is available from 1st October 2012.

The main duties of the post will be to deliver tutorial teaching in Classical Philosophy at undergraduate level for the two Colleges (eight hours per week in term for New College, four hours for St Hugh’s); to engage in research, and to act as organising Fellow in Classical Philosophy at New College (including participation in the annual admissions process).

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a relevant field and will have a research record in Classical Philosophy appropriate to the stage of the candidate’s career. The ability to deliver effective tutorial and class teaching in Classical Philosophy to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.

The post carries, in addition to the salary stated above, the following allowances at New College: Housing Allowance (£8,010 p.a.), Fellows Allowance (£2,860 p.a.) and Tutorial Fellows Allowance (£8,320 p.a.).
