Rick van der Ploeg

Rick van der Ploeg is a Professor of Economics and co-director of the Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies at Oxford University, and a Senior Research Fellow of New College. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Amsterdam and a research fellow at CEPR, CESifo and the Tinbergen Institute.

His main research interests are in natural resources, environmental economics and economic development, but his background has been mainly macroeconomics, international economics and public finance.

He has acted as consultant for various governments and supranational organizations (e.g., EU, OECD, ADB, AfDB, IMF). Being a former member of the Dutch parliament and State Secretary of Education, Culture and Science, he also has policy interests in the economics of the arts and of higher education.
