The College seeks to appoint an Assistant Chaplain to lead services, develop activities for students and the chapel congregation, and to provide liturgical and administrative support to the Dean of Divinity. The College would prefer to appoint an individual in holy orders in the Church of England (or a church in full communion with the Church of England), but it also welcomes applications from lay candidates who have experience of leading formal Christian worship. There is no requirement to sing the liturgy, although experienced singers may have the opportunity to sing. The chapel does not have a service on Sunday morning so the post can be combined with work in a parish. The post is fixed term for one year from 1 September 2017. The postholder will be expected to work approximately 17 hours per week in the 10-week university terms (2 October-9 December, 8 January-17 March, 16 April-23 June), and at other times by arrangement.
Salary and benefits: The annual salary is £12,500. The appointment will be pensionable under the USS scheme, the post-holder contributing 8% of the stipend and the College 18%.
Holiday: 6 weeks p.a. (pro rata) plus (pro rata) public holidays.
Meals: The postholder is entitled to dinner at the common table 5 nights a week.
This post is subject to safer recruitment procedures, including an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Baring Service.
Closing date: mid-day 5th May 2017
