Your regular support makes all the difference

New College relies on the support of its Old Members and friends in helping us to deliver what is so important to us:

  • attracting the most able students irrespective of their financial means
  • securing the future of the exceptional tutorial system
  • developing young academics and investing in the cutting-edge research of tomorrow
  • maintaining and developing the historic fabric of the College to enhance the academic and cultural experience of College life

New College is not a rich college and, whilst ranked sixth amongst Oxford Colleges in terms of overall endowment, is only twelfth in terms of endowment per student. The income we draw from our endowments provides some 35% of our annual income, while support from Old Members contributes a further 7% each year. Now, at a time when funding for our Fellowships is being dramatically reduced, most particularly in the Humanities, when we need to provide more generous bursaries for undergraduates and scholarships for graduates, and we need to invest more in our historic buildings, we call on you to help us maintain this extraordinary place.

Last year over 20% of Old Members contributed to the College, and we urge you to join them in helping us to ensure the continued success of the College. Every contribution matters and we will be most grateful for your support.
